Dan was one of my favorite people ever!
Dan was one of my favorite people ever! I met him in 1991 when he was working at Valero in Dallas. We had lunch several times in big D and played golf and hunted on either Valero's dime or Enserch's dime. Fun fun times. Dan was a hard trader when it came to doing business, but we always kidded each other about our jobs and never took things too seriously. I'd try to sell him gas for index plus and he'd always come back with index minus! I know you've heard the story of how Dan shot "Bambi" on one of the Amie Real ranch hunts in the 90s. He was so upset to shoot a small deer that he tried to hide the deer, only to realise it would be found and he dragged it back up a hill and almost passed out from exhaustion. All of us in the business loved and respected Dan. He had the best sense of humor and was very smart too! He could always figure things out in his head before anyone else could. Although our geography changed, Dan and I kept in touch regularly since he moved to Houston. I loved visiting and playing golf and seeing you and his kids, Krista and Aaron. I remember when Aaron was tiny, and Dan was worried about glasses for him. He loved to talk about his kids! and I remember how nervous he was when Krista started dating. He loved to show off his "logo" golf ball collection. I was jealous that he had so many golf balls from so many different companies! Fun fun times with Dan. Jenna, Dan loved and idolized you! He gave me your CDs when they came out and I so enjoy listening to your angelic voice. Know that I will always be a dear friend.
Much love,
Rob Henk
